Giddings High School Receives Special Distinction Awards:
As part of the new accountability system, each public school campus in the state was assigned to a unique comparison group of 40 other public schools that closely matched that school on the following characteristics: campus type, campus size, percent economically disadvantaged students, mobility rates, and percent of students with limited English proficiency.
Campuses were eligible to receive a distinction award for being in the top 25% of their comparison group for student progress, academic achievement in reading and academic achievement in mathematics. High schools were required to be in the top 25% of their comparison group in one third of the measures in either reading or math to receive the distinction awards. Giddings High School received a distinction in all three categories: student progress and for both academic achievement in reading and math.
