Historic Fall Semester at Giddings High School

For the first time in Giddings ISD history, GHS has finished as District Champions in every fall sport.

The Varsity Boys Football team finished the regular season 8-2 overall and 5-0 in district to earn their second consecutive District Championship. They advanced to the second round of the playoffs by beating Waco Connally on November 11th in Georgetown. They will play their second round opponent, Hardin-Jefferson, at 7:30 pm on November 18th at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.

The Varsity Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams finished as champions at the District Cross Country Meet on October 12th. Both teams advanced to the regional championship where Vivian Ratcliff, Hunter Pleasant, and Christian Montelongo earned the opportunity and competed at the UIL State Cross Country Meet on Saturday, November 12, 2016 in Round Rock. Vivian Ratcliff was selected to the CCCAT All Region Team.

The Lady Buffs Varsity Volleyball Team beat La Grange on October 25th to earn the first District Championship in volleyball since 1988. They were also Bi-District and Area Champions and advanced to the Regional Quarterfinal round of the playoffs.

In addition, the Giddings High School Mighty Buffalo Band competed in the UIL Marching Contest in Buffalo Stadium and advanced to the UIL Area B Marching Contest at UMHB on October 29, 2016.

Congratulations to all of the students, their parents, coaches, and sponsors for great seasons. Please continue to cheer our teams on as they participate in the state playoffs.
